"Star-crossed lovers..." bla bla bla.
This is a story you've seen plenty a time before, but probably not it in the midst of the world famous Rio carnival.
And it's really the carnival that's playing the lead in Orfeu Negro. The music, the people, the colors... The film makes you want to go there, and even though the story is not a particularly happy one, the film still works as a fantastical tourist ad.
Winner of the Best Foreign Language Film award at the 1959 Oscars and several others, this is an experience to treat yourself on a rainy day.
